SAKURAO Brewery & Distillery Launches Single Malt Japanese Whisky SAKURAO Sherry Cask HIROSHIGE COLLECTION

SAKURAO Brewery & Distillery Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce the launch of Single Malt Japanese Whisky SAKURAO Sherry Cask HIROSHIGE COLLECTION, available in limited quantities at duty-free shops in Japanese airports and at the SAKURAO DISTILLERY Visitor Center.

This special release features The Treasure Ship with the Seven Lucky Gods, a celebrated ukiyo-e artwork by the Edo-period master Utagawa Hiroshige. The Seven Lucky Gods have long been cherished in Japan as symbols of good fortune, prosperity, longevity, and success in business. Carrying these deities, the Treasure Ship has traditionally been regarded as an auspicious motif that embodies hopes for happiness and abundance.

Inspired by this timeless symbol of good fortune, the HIROSHIGE COLLECTION brings together the beauty of traditional Japanese art and the craftsmanship of modern Japanese whisky in a truly distinctive expression.

Matured for more than three years in sherry casks and bottled at cask strength, this single malt reveals a deep amber colour with rich reddish hues. The nose opens with aromas of raisins, followed by delicate notes of bitter chocolate on the palate. Layers of ripe strawberry and apple sweetness unfold alongside gentle spice, leading to a long finish with subtle salinity and a delicate hint of peat.

Beyond its exceptional flavour, this release has also been designed to celebrate the visual beauty of Japanese culture. Each bottle features a specially designed label showcasing Hiroshige’s The Treasure Ship with the Seven Lucky Gods and is accompanied by a decorative folding fan featuring a traditional wave motif. Together, they offer a unique opportunity to experience the artistry and cultural heritage of Japan alongside its whisky craftsmanship.
