In the Worldwide Whiskies Category, Single Malt Japanese Whisky SAKURAO 1st release CASK STRENGTH is awarded \u201cGold\u201d in the global spirit competition \u201cHong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition\u201d held in Hong Kong. Also, the whisky is awarded \u201cTrophy\u201d, which is selected only one product for each of category.<\/p>\n

In addition, Single Malt Japanese Whisky TOGOUCHI 1st release CASK STRENGTH is awarded \u201cSilver\u201d in the Competition.<\/p>\n

SAKURAO Brewery and Distillery Co., Ltd. was founded in 1918 in the town of Sakurao in Hatsukaichi, Hiroshima. To better convey our concept of “sharing the pleasures of cuisine,” we emphasize our traditional techniques and the unique characteristics included in our process, such as the climate of Hiroshima and use of locally sourced ingredients.<\/p>\n

In the competition, our two whiskies were awarded, one is Single Malt Japanese Whisky SAKURAO 1st release CASK STRENGTH which is aged in Sakurao, the place of establishment near the Seto Inland Sea, the other is Single Malt Japanese Whisky TOGOUCHI 1st release CASK STRENGTH which is aged in Togouchi in Chugoku Mountains.<\/p>\n

It is a great honor for all of our employees to receive such an award of liquor that takes advantage of the climate of Hiroshima, which is rich in the blessings of nature. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone and we are grateful for all of the support we have received and we will continue to innovate and create new possibilities.<\/p>\n

\n\u25a0What is \u201cHong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition\u201d ?<\/strong><\/p>\n

HKIWSC (Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition) is a competition held under the same criteria as IWSC (International Wine & Spirit Competition), which is one of the world’s three major alcoholic beverage competitions. At the liquor competition that has been held in Hong Kong since 2013, a large number of wines, whiskies, gins and other spirits are gathered from all over the world.<\/p>\n

In this competition, Gold, Silver and Bronze are selected after a blind examination by judges such as prominent bartenders, buyers and journalists. And the best of Gold is given “Trophy” for each department. Of the many exhibited products, about 900 products were awarded, and only 52 products were awarded the highest gold award “Trophy”.<\/p>\n
