Hiroshima is blessed with a natural environment comprising both seaside and mountainous areas. The Sakurao warehouse on the sea side has a large temperature difference between summer and winter, warm wind blowing from the Seto Inland Sea and cool wind coming down from the mountains. This causes aging to occur rapidly. In addition, a variety of barrels are used to age a wide variety of raw spirits. Of the carefully selected SHERRY CASK, Stillman selected only the SPANISH OAK that caught his eye. Single Malt Japanese Whisky Sakurao SPANISH OAK STILLMAN’S SELECTION will release at a limited quantity.

In order to express Miyajima, the symbol of Hiroshima prefecture, we turned to “Hamagou,” a botanical that has been used as incense since the Heian period (794–1185).
Known as a hidden “botanical sanctuary,” this special island is home to abundant Hamagou. We have now incorporated this distinctive local botanical into SAKURAO GIN, which is crafted using carefully selected Hiroshima ingredients and traditional distillation methods to create SAKURAO GIN HAMAGOU.

This is the 8th year of SAKURAO GIN HAMAGOU. The fragrance is fresh and refreshing, reminiscent of the small, dainty Hamagou flowers that bloom on Miyajima Island.

With this release, we will continue to innovate and create new possibilities -“Innovation from tradition. From Hiroshima to the world.”

The new distillery has been officially named “SAKURAO DISTILLERY FOREST SITE.”
The name reflects the desire to create a distillery that captures the beauty of the Yoshiwa region, with its clear streams and lush mountains.
The facility will consist of two buildings: the distillation building and the visitor center, both designed with spacious, open areas to allow visitors to immerse themselves in the natural surroundings.

The distillery will feature cutting-edge manufacturing equipment from Germany, alongside traditional pot stills from a renowned Scottish distillation equipment manufacturer. It will also include a guided tour route where visitors can experience the production process and the allure of whisky.

The distillation building is scheduled for completion in fall 2025, followed by the visitor center in fall 2026. Through the “SAKURAO DISTILLERY FOREST SITE,” the company aims to promote and spread awareness of Japan’s craftsmanship spirit and regional culture.
